The ZIG/ZAG Peer Mentoring scheme was a two-year pilot project, funded by Barnwood Trust and delivered in partnership with Inclusion Gloucestershire.

The aim of the pilot was to explore both the feasibility and the impact of one-to-one peer mentoring as a form of support for late-identified neurodivergent adults. Between 2023 and 2025, people in Gloucestershire who had recently discovered their neurodivergence were invited to apply to be matched with a trained neurodivergent mentor, who could offer empathetic support and solidarity as they learned more about neurodiversity and explored this important aspect of their identity.

What happens next?

The ZIG/ZAG Peer Mentoring pilot has now finished, but its legacy continues to inspire and inform positive change for neurodivergent people in Gloucestershire and beyond.

Building upon the success of the ZIG/ZAG pilot, in 2025 Inclusion Gloucestershire secured funding to deliver another two years of one-to-one peer mentoring for neurodivergent adults, under the new name Unboxed.

You can find out more about Unboxed (and/or apply to take part) via the Inclusion Gloucestershire website.
