ZIG/ZAG/ZINES creates, collects, and distributes zines* made by and for people who think differently, on subjects including neurodiversity, disability, and mental health/illness.
The ZIG/ZAG/ZINES collection is available for exhibition at community venues and festivals across the south west, alongside affordable zine-making workshops for non-profits and community groups.
*WTF is a zine?
Zines are independently produced, low/no-cost DIY publications. They can be about any subject and created in any style, typically within a format that allows fast, simple reproduction and small-scale distribution.
They may be informative, creative, and/or subversive, and are often used by people in marginalised communities as a way to share ideas and stories.
The story so far…

ZIG/ZAG/ZINES began in 2024, when ZIG/ZAG received funding (as part of the 2024 FOD FRINGE festival in the Forest of Dean) to put together a curated collection of zines made by neurodivergent and disabled artists from all around the world.
The ZIG/ZAG/ZINES collection made its debut pop-up appearance accompanied by a series of free zine-making workshops at Coleford Library in April 2024.
Since then, we’ve toured the collection and run zine-making workshops at libraries, festivals, museums and art centres, helping everyone from looked-after children to charity staff teams to find new ways to express and share their perspectives on the world.
Our workshops usually last around two hours, which allows enough time for each participant to make their own mini-zine that they can take home and keep.

We want zines to be accessible for everyone, so we insist that all our workshops remain free to attend.
However, we still need to cover our costs, so when an organisation with a budget books a workshop with us, we charge a facilitation fee. This fee is negotiable depending on the capacity of the organisation, but will generally be around £150, which is based on half a day of the facilitator’s time plus travel and materials.
To find out more or to book a workshop, drop us a message via the contact form on our About page.

Many of the zines in our collection are only available in paper format, but we do occasionally publish digital zines – you can view and download these (and more) over at our Itch.io page.

That’s not MY neurodiversity movement!
This printable zine, while likely being completely incomprehensible to anyone who is unfamiliar with either the British children’s picture book series ‘That’s Not My…” and/or the tenets of radical neurodiversity activism, will be perfectly understandable – and hopefully enjoyable – for those who do recognise the extremely niche context.

Let’s Talk Tigers
Did you know that every day, more than five million people across the UK are being chased by a tiger? It’s time to #TalkTigers. If you are sick and tired of seeing the same old ‘awareness raising’ campaigns around mental health, or if you’re simply frustrated with being offered judgmental individualistic solutions to systemic social problems, this downloadable trifold leaflet is for you.
